Serendipity

While walking down the street with the The Washington Post under my arm and a hot dog in my hand I passed several businesses including a New York City pawn shop. I have probably passed this store more than one hundred times so why it caught my attention on this occasion I will never quite know.
Many businesses sell jewelry in New York City so why I was so drawn to this particular business is a conundrum. Regardless, drawn I was and I went walked in as if magically pulled by invisible hands. Perhaps it was my shopping angel that directed me because I walked straight to the sparkly section where they sell gold and I found a beautiful eighteen inch necklace that my girlfriend will certainly appreciate when her birthday rolls around.
I could not believe my good fortune. After walking out with my selection I went to Papyrus and asked the clerk to wrap the little box in a medium sized box and then wrap it again in a much larger box. I am sure when I present my gift to my girlfriend, she will have no idea what is hidden under the large package. I look forward setting the package out on my counter for a couple of days before her actual birthday so she can think about it and guess all kinds of crazy guesses without really having a clue as to the true size of the package.
