With everyone’s interest in "going green" — that is, adopting a more sustainable lifestyle — I guess I shouldn’t be surprised to see candles go green now, too.  But they are — check out this line of natural soy wax candles.  I just heard about them recently, and I was amazed — I didn’t realize you could make candles out of something like soy, nor did I realize there would be a benefit to it!

Basically, scented candles made with soy wax burn more cleanly than regular paraffin candles.  Paraffin candles produce more soot, which is technically, if you think about it, air pollution.  Plus, soy is such a prolific crop in our country that we really ought to try to find more ways to use it!  Be like the Native Americans, and don’t waste anything — that’s my motto.

Best of all, soy jar candles are just as good as regular candles — you probably won’t even notice the difference in their scent or the way they burn.  Except for the less soot thing, of course!
