The Grandparents Are Thinking of Moving to Vegas

nvFunny these people who came from back East.  They grew up in snow, so hate it no matter what!  The grandparents came out to California to get away from snow in the 1960’s.  But by the late 1990’s, California was so unbelievably crowded and crime-filled that they happily followed us when we moved to Colorado.  Now, the area around Denver is pretty easy, relatively speaking.  The snow melts fast with each storm, and the climate is more arid-it just doesn’t feel as cold.

But that’s all they can talk about now:  the snow, the snow, the snow.  They hate it.  They can’t see the beauty or the easier life or the fantastic opportunities the grandkids have had here.

We figured they’d bolt straight for Arizona, or else to some Florida villa.  But no:  they want to trade this for the very congested and California-like Las Vegas!  I consider Vegas to be worse than California.  Hotter.  Smuttier.  They don’t even care about the gambling.  I almost wish they WOULD move to one of those villas in Orlando or something.  At least I’d enjoy visiting them more.  They just don’t seem to want any place with any charm whatsoever.  It’s all about warmth and straight, concrete, gridded cities.  And apparently, a place where everyone smells like a cigarette.
