Changing Roles as Information Manager

Over the years, I have had many roles in the corporation that I work for.  In fact, this year marks the 40th year that I am with them, and I am still as happy as ever.  I love the work that I do, and the fact that it has come a long way since the early days of the business.

You see, I am now the information manager of the organization.  My role is to ensure that our company documents are organized properly and stored in a private manner.  I have been working in this department since my early days of the company, and have been manager for the past twenty years.

Currently, we rely on electronic document management systems to store and organize all the information that passes through the organization.  I have to say, that I like our current data storage solutions that we are using compared to the information storage methods of the past.

I can remember the days before document management software solutions, back when we used to have files stored in bankers boxes in a warehouse.  Maybe it wasn’t a warehouse, but some days it seemed that big when you couldn’t find the folder that you were looking for.

But thanks to computers, my job has become a lot easier and I am looking forward to an easier time for these last few years before retirement.
