Getting a cash advance to make it through the month

Have you ever been in the situation where you just didn’t have enough money at the end of the month? If you have, you’ll certainly understand that it is not the most comfortable position to find oneself in. Usually, I am very good about budgeting, and not really spending extravagantly on things I may not need. A few times during college however I really had to seek out a loan or 2 in order to make ends meet.
Since my days at University I have really been rather disciplined about making sure that the month isn’t over before the end of the paycheck. Recently however, I realized that I was going to have a shortfall and knew that if I was to make it to the next month, I’d have to seek some sort of assistance.
I’ve never actually gone into one of those cash advance places, but I see them all over. Given my situation I knew it would definitely worth the time to check things out. If they might be able to help me get over this financial hump, I’ll be happy to use their services.
Hopefully, the stories I’ve heard about in the news regarding check cashing places won’t apply here. Stay tuned, and I’ll be sure to update my adventure soon!

Yeah, when you live paycheck to paycheck, these kinds of things can happen. Sometimes all you need is to get a little ahead. Try working a temporary extra job or doing mystery shopping or something. Then you’ll have a little extra to ride over in case something weird pops up.

I’ve never used a cash advance place, either. Maybe I should though. What I tend to do instead is just put it on my credit card. But slowly, slowly my balance builds up because I’m charging more than I can pay.

Is this the same as a payday loan? You know, I think some banks are starting to do this, too. That is, if you already have an account with them. What are the fees and/or interest on something like this? Once in awhile, I’d like to be able to do this, too.

When I was in college, I used to try to track my money so carefully, too. This was before Quicken, so I’d use the envelope method and just shove different amounts from my paycheck into envelopes labeled with my different bills. But no matter how careful I was, sometimes I’d end up short, too.

I’m back to where I was in college–money slowly trickling to necessities until you end up periodically short. Back then, it wasn’t until my fiancee paid off all my bills that I got ahead. Now, with two kids in college and one in daycare, I just don’t know where to turn.
