What Is The Secret?

I’m trying to figure out the easiest way to hang Christmas lights.  I live in Colorado, and I know the most common ways to do it, but I just hate lugging a ladder around in the snow…and getting on the roof is next to impossible.  I know all about hooks that you can hang once and then just clip the lights on year after year, but I don’t know.  I’d like something that I could use that would allow me to just pull the lights down from below at the end of the season.

There must be some secret to this because I see those professional light companies come and hang and then take down afterward in record time.  But I always struggle, whether it’s lights for my trees or my roof, regular bulb lights or mini lights.  What’s the secret?  How can I get them up easily but then also rip them down in a flash without necessarily dragging the ladder out all over again?  My latest attempts have been with a staple gun, but that hurts my hand to use.

I think then need a big Velcro strip we can use to tack along the inside eave, get the lights up by just pushing them on, and then, what a breeze to tear them down again!
