Planning a Florida Vacation

I haven’t been to Florida since I was 5 — literally.  It was more than 20 years ago that my mom, my sister, and I went on a Florida vacation and stayed with my grandfather at a hotel on the beach.  I don’t even remember what the sea is like — the only thing I remember is playing in the sand with a bucket and a shovel another family gave us when they checked out of the hotel!

Now as an adult, I’m free to take whatever vacations I want.  My husband and I have talked about visiting a bunch of different places.  If we go to Florida, here’s what we have to keep in mind:

  • We’ll have to find a Fort Lauderdale airport car rental.  Since we don’t live close enough to make the trip by car, getting a Fort Lauderdale or Orlando car rental will be a necessity.  Luckily there are plenty of rental car Orlando companies.
  • We’ll have to find a place to stay.  When I was a kid, we stayed somewhere with the word boca in the name — it might have been Boca Raton, but I can’t tell for sure.  I rather thought that boca was in the name of the hotel…
  • We’ll have to decide what we want to do.  There’s plenty to do and see in Florida, depending on where we go.  We could go to Disney World and the other theme parks Florida is famous for — or just hang out at the resorts, play on the beach, swim in the sea, and relax in general.
  • I’ll have to figure out what to do about my hair!  It sounds silly, but really…  I have the curliest hair, and with the humidity in Florida, it’s bound to be a rat’s nest!
