My First Concert

I was kind of deprived growing up, I think, because it wasn’t until I was 24, out of college, and working full time that I finally went to my first concert.
It was a good first concert to go to, though — Nine Inch Nails! A friend helped us get the tickets within the first few minutes after they went on sale, because they sold out in about 10 minutes.
It was a crazy fun concert. I went with my sister and a few of her friends, some of whom I already knew. One of her friends drove so that we could drink. There was temporary fencing everywhere to keep us from parking where we shouldn’t, since it was such a big concert. There were also people standing out on the street corners selling tickets for outrageous prices, which was a big surprise to me, being my first concert and all. But I guess there’s a big market for that when tickets sell out within the first 10 minutes!
Inside it was extremely crowded and dim, and my sister and I quickly got separated from the others. We held hands throughout most of the concert so that we wouldn’t get separated from one another. There were some crowd control barriers inside to keep everyone where they were supposed to be, and railings to separate levels from one another. It was a pretty big venue, and we had fun digging through the crowd to find a good vantage point!
I have to admit I haven’t really been to another concert like that since, with the exception of a blue-sy sit-down concert that really wasn’t at all the same thing. It just doesn’t seem like something I want to spend my money on regularly, if you know what I mean. But I’m really glad I got to do it once — it was quite the experience!
