Blast from the Past

Long before people spent money on fancy CFA cat toys, they bought things because the commercials had cute kittens in them.

The little video camera cracks me up.  Look at that crazy light they have to snap onto the top of it!  They say “easy to assemble,” or something like that, and it sure looks like it — until they haul out the flash.  How times have changed!  Those smiling “parents” would be amazed at what I can do with my digital camera and my computer.  Or heck, with my cell phone!

Another way that times (and tastes) have changed — now that home video is so readily available, people get much better footage than kids grabbing at kittens.  Heck, give the poor kittens some fun cat toys and let them play!

And the voice over…  Gah!  Commercials were so lame back then!  Does anyone actually remember this commercial?  It is a bit before my time — I was a child of the 80s.  My childhood was filled with “Toys R Us Kid,” “Trix are for kids,” Tony the Tiger, and other commercials like that — after they discovered that songs, stories, and bright colors sold things even better than sentimental segments like this one.

What are the worst commercials you remember from your childhood?
