Survival Mode

I got laid off a month ago, and at first I thought it would be totally fine.  We have a considerable amount of savings, even aside from the kids’ college funds, and we leave very much within our means.  Now all this stuff has been happening with the economy, and suddenly, I’m not the only one without a job.  The competition has gotten so steep, I’m wondering if I’ll be able to find a job at all, much less in the next month or two, and we can’t afford not to have two working parents in the household.  I’m worried about our debt.

The mortgage on the house is at a fairly manageable level; we were lucky in that we put a lot of money down, so our payments have always been pretty small.  It’s the payday advance loan that’s close to defaulting and the debt consolidation loans that are maxed out without being able to pay it back.  We got a credit card bad credit holders get, and it’s just been adding insult to injury.  We are in deep, and I don’t even know what to do to get out of it.  After all this, if I don’t get a job soon, I’m going to lose our house, and I can’t accept that.
