Returning to Business after Long Term Disability
Posted by RatZone on 03/20/09 in Business
Last year after having a stroke, my husband Larry, had lost the use of the entire right side of his body. We have been going to physical therapy every Tuesday and Thursday as his doctor had recommended. He does not like going to doctors offices and taking their advice normally, even though he is a pediatrician with his own practice. Now that he has begun to walk again and has regained the use of both of his arms, he says that he is ready to go back to work in his practice.
This entire year would have been a complete disaster to our financial health if we had not decided to purchase that long term disability insurance policy with the residual rider attached. Between both of our disability insurance companies, they have paid most of our bills and even kept our utilities paid because of the excellent benefits that they provide.
While he was riding to work with me in the afternoons, he decided to get a part time job taking tickets at the movie theatre down from my office. Even with this part time income, the benefits did not cease because we took the advice from the disability insurance quotes that we had gotten and added the own occupation definition to our disability policy. We were able to continue our normal lifestyle as much as possible thanks to having the right kind of disability insurance.
