Individual vs. Group Health Insurance in Florida
Posted by rater on 07/13/08 in Business

If you are the employee of a company that offers a health insurance plan then you are probably going to accept that plan without reviewing your other options for health insurance. This is a mistake. In many cases, you may find that it is actually less costly to get individual health insurance than to get health insurance through your employer.
Take, for example, Florida group health insurance plans in which the employer is not required to make any payments towards the premiums for spouses and dependent children that are added to the insurance. The individual employee may find that health insurance for herself is cheaper with the employer than with the plans that could be obtained alone. However, the added cost of paying the full price for insurance for the husband and kids could cause this choice to be more expensive in the long run.
It’s a good idea to at least review what your other options are before choosing to accept your company’s health insurance plan. Review insurance for different areas (for example, look at health insurance Miami and health insurance west palm beach if you’re in Florida). Also review plans from major national health insurance providers. In the end, you may still choose to go with what your company offers but at least you’ll know for sure it was the best choice.
